Home Organization![]() Most of us feel more comfortable, more confident and more at ease when our home is organized. Home organization can give us great pleasure and satisfaction when we manage to achieve it, and the lack of it can be a source of much stress and anxiety. Living in a home which is organized gives us the freedom to give better quality attention to other areas of our life, such as work, family, hobbies, community, health and so on, creating better balance. Home organization is important to many people, and is something I’ve always been interested in and enjoy writing about. The ... Continue reading... |
Learning to be Organized![]() Readers have noted my previous admissions that being organized is not something which comes naturally or easily to me. This is why I enjoy writing about it. I’m interested in the reasons I struggle with it, and how to be organized anyway. Despite my lack of natural ability, my desire to be organized has always been strong and I have generally been reasonably successful in my efforts. The fact that I have to work at it and struggle with it just makes it easier for me to write about it. As several readers have observed in emails, who wants to hear advice ... Continue reading... |
Organizing Family Medical Records![]() Recently as I’ve been busy keeping up with eye tests and new glasses for all five children and myself, immunization injections for us all, blood tests for my daughter and I to monitor our iron levels, hospital admissions for myself, dental treatment for us all and visits to the orthodontist for the eldest two children, managing our health insurance, and arranging veterinary care for the pets, it’s become clear that I really need to make sure all the records and papers relating to all this are kept in order so I can keep up with what’s going on. When visiting a ... Continue reading... |
Feeling Overwhelmed![]() Following from my previous article about de-cluttering, I’m going back to how we often feel before beginning the task of turning back the tide of clutter. Feeling overwhelmed is often the main reason why people avoid making a start on de-cluttering, and it can also be the main hindering factor in getting started on or continuing with a lot of other things. It tends to start slowly and creep up on us, just as those unattended to things have crept up on us slowly. Sometimes we might not even notice it, putting that odd, annoying feeling out of mind, until it has ... Continue reading... |
How to Get Rid of Clutter in Your Home![]() Of all the emails I get, one of the most common things readers ask about is how to get rid of clutter in your home. How to to declutter, how to make decluttering easier, how to make a start, how to stop it building up again and so on.There is a section in my e-book Organized for Life about how to get rid of clutter in your home and I’m working on a new e-book just about that topic alone! Planning![]() Planning is one of the most important things you can do for becoming organized. It can be difficult to do, and it can be difficult to carry out your plans once they’re made. We can fix that… The better and more carefully made your plans are, the easier it is to carry them out. What is it that prevents you from carrying out plans you’ve made? I find it’s usually a feeling of indecision; not being completely sure that it’s the right plan, not enough detail about how or when or what steps are required in carrying out the plan, basically a ...
